1. Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride
I highly recommend taking a hot air balloon ride in Napa Valley. It’s a magical experience to see the vineyards from above as the sun rises. I did this on my first morning in Napa Valley and it led to an unforgettable day. Seeing the valley from above gave me a better sense of its geography and made it easier to plan my itinerary for the rest of my trip.
2. Visit a Winery
No trip to Napa Valley is complete without visiting at least one winery. There are so many to choose from, but I recommend doing some research beforehand to find the ones that align with your interests. Some wineries offer tours and tastings, while others have beautiful gardens or art collections to explore. I visited the Sterling Vineyards and it was a great experience. The views from the winery are stunning and the wine was delicious.

One of my favorite things to do in Napa Valley was having a picnic at a vineyard. Many wineries offer picnic areas where you can enjoy a bottle of wine and some delicious food while taking in the views. I packed a blanket, some cheese, and a baguette and had a lovely afternoon at the Stag’s Leap Winery.
4. Take a Cooking Class
If you’re a foodie like me, then taking a cooking class in Napa Valley is a must. There are many options to choose from, but I recommend the classes at the Culinary Institute of America. I took a pasta-making class and it was so much fun. Not only did I learn a new skill, but I also got to enjoy a delicious meal afterwards.
5. Explore Downtown Napa
Downtown Napa is a charming town with many shops, restaurants, and art galleries. I enjoyed walking around and exploring the different neighborhoods. The Oxbow Public Market is a great place to grab a bite to eat or pick up some local goods. I also recommend visiting the Napa Valley Opera House, which has a beautiful interior and hosts various performances throughout the year.
6. Go on a Hike
Napa Valley has many beautiful hiking trails that offer stunning views of the valley. I went on a hike at the Robert Louis Stevenson State Park and it was breathtaking. The trail was moderate in difficulty and took me through oak trees and wildflowers. At the end of the trail, I was rewarded with a panoramic view of the valley.
7. Visit a Spa
After a day of exploring and wine tasting, it’s nice to relax and unwind at a spa. Napa Valley has many spas to choose from, but I recommend the Spa at the Carneros Resort and Spa. The spa has a beautiful outdoor area with hot tubs, saunas, and a pool. I enjoyed a massage and it was a great way to end my trip.
8. Attend a Concert at the Uptown Theatre
The Uptown Theatre is a historic venue in Downtown Napa that hosts various concerts and events throughout the year. I attended a concert there and it was a great experience. The theater has a beautiful interior and the acoustics are amazing. It’s a great way to enjoy some live music while in Napa Valley.

If you’re a foodie and a wine lover, then trying a wine and food pairing is a must. Many wineries offer food and wine pairings that showcase the flavors of the region. I did a pairing at the B Cellars Vineyards and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the wine complemented it perfectly.

A bike tour is a fun and active way to explore Napa Valley. There are many bike rental companies that offer self-guided or guided tours. I did a self-guided tour and it was a great way to see the vineyards up close. The bike ride was easy and the scenery was beautiful.
