1. Visit Disneyland
As a self-proclaimed Disney fanatic, visiting Disneyland is a must-do when in Orange County. This iconic theme park has been enchanting visitors since 1955, and it’s no surprise why.
With over 60 attractions, delicious food options, and stunning fireworks shows, Disneyland truly has something for everyone. Plus, with the addition of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you can now experience an out-of-this-world adventure.

2. Explore Laguna Beach
If you’re looking for a beautiful beach town with plenty of charm, look no further than Laguna Beach. This seaside city is home to stunning beaches, art galleries, and delicious restaurants.
One of my favorite things to do in Laguna Beach is to take a walk along the boardwalk at Main Beach. You can also explore the tide pools at Treasure Island Beach or take a hike in the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.
3. Take a Balboa Island Ferry Ride
If you’re looking for a unique experience in Orange County, take a ride on the Balboa Island Ferry. This short ride takes you from Balboa Island to the Balboa Peninsula and offers stunning views of Newport Harbor.
Once you arrive on the Balboa Peninsula, you can explore the famous Balboa Fun Zone, try some delicious Balboa Bars (a local ice cream treat), or take a walk on the beach.
4. Go Whale Watching
Orange County is home to some of the best whale watching in Southern California. Newport Beach and Dana Point both offer whale watching tours where you can see giant blue whales, gray whales, and even dolphins.
I went on a whale watching tour in Dana Point and it was an unforgettable experience. We saw multiple gray whales and even got to see a pod of dolphins swimming alongside our boat.
5. Visit the Mission San Juan Capistrano
History buffs will love a visit to the Mission San Juan Capistrano. This mission was founded in 1776 and is home to beautiful gardens, historic buildings, and a museum.
One of the most unique things about this mission is the swallows that return every year on March 19th. This event is celebrated with a parade and festival.
6. Take a Surfing Lesson
Orange County is known for its world-class surfing. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, taking a surfing lesson is a must-do when visiting this area.
I took a surfing lesson in Huntington Beach and had a blast. The instructors were patient and knowledgeable, and I was able to catch a few waves by the end of the lesson.
7. Visit Crystal Cove State Park
Crystal Cove State Park is a beautiful coastal park with miles of hiking trails, a historic district, and stunning beaches. This park is a great place to spend a day exploring nature.
One of my favorite things about Crystal Cove is the Beachcomber Cafe. This restaurant is located right on the beach and serves up delicious food with stunning ocean views.
8. Go Shopping at South Coast Plaza
If you’re in the mood for some retail therapy, head to South Coast Plaza. This luxury shopping center is home to over 250 stores, including high-end brands like Gucci, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton.
Even if you’re not in the mood to shop, South Coast Plaza is worth a visit for its beautiful architecture and art exhibits.
9. Take a Sunset Cruise
Watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean is a magical experience. One of the best ways to do this is by taking a sunset cruise.
There are many companies that offer sunset cruises in Orange County, but my favorite is Newport Landing. Their sunset cruise includes stunning views of the coastline, complimentary appetizers, and a full bar.
10. Visit the Orange County Great Park
The Orange County Great Park is a beautiful park with over 1,300 acres of open space. This park is a great place to take a walk, ride a bike, or have a picnic.
One of the most unique things about the Great Park is the Great Park Balloon. This giant orange balloon takes you 400 feet in the air for stunning views of the surrounding area.
