That&#8217;s why I was thrilled to participate in Capital University&#8217;s MLK Day of Learning, an online event designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_the_MLK_Day_of_Learning\"><\/span>What is the MLK Day of Learning?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The MLK Day of Learning is an annual event that takes place at Capital University, a private university located in Columbus, Ohio. The event is held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and is designed to promote dialogue and understanding about issues related to diversity and social justice. This year, due to the pandemic, the event was held online, making it more accessible to a wider audience.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"My_Experience\"><\/span>My Experience<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I was initially hesitant to participate in an online event, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the program. The virtual platform allowed me to engage with other educators from across the country and participate in a variety of thought-provoking workshops and discussions.<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights of the event was a keynote speech by Dr. Angela Davis, a renowned activist and scholar. Her talk focused on the intersections of race, gender, and class, and how these intersecting identities shape our experiences in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Another workshop that I found particularly valuable was one on culturally responsive teaching.
