Classes were initially cancelled for a few days while the university assessed the situation and put safety measures in place. However, classes have now resumed with increased security measures in place.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Are_the_Long-Term_Implications\"><\/span>What Are the Long-Term Implications?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While the immediate threat has been dealt with, this incident raises important questions about safety and security on college campuses. It also highlights the need for open and honest discussions about diversity and equity, as well as the importance of mental health resources for students and faculty members.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Survey_Results\"><\/span>Survey Results<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A recent survey conducted by the American Council on Education found that 86% of college and university presidents believe that campus safety and security is a top priority. We need to create a culture of caring and support, she says.
