The American Physical Education Association (now known as SHAPE America) was founded in 1885, making it one of the oldest professional organizations in the United States. Additionally, physical education has been shown to improve academic performance, particularly in math and reading.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite the many benefits of physical education, there are still challenges and obstacles to overcome. Many schools have cut back on physical education programs due to budget constraints, and there is a growing concern about the lack of physical activity among children and adolescents.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Personal_Experience\"><\/span>Personal Experience<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As a physical education teacher, I\u2019ve seen firsthand the impact that physical education can have on students. I\u2019ve had students who were initially reluctant to participate in physical activities, but over time, they became more confident and engaged.<\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite memories was when I organized a \u201cfun run\u201d for my students. We had a variety of activities set up, including an obstacle course and a water balloon toss.
