In this article, I will explore the different classes that existed during the early days of China and what they meant for the people who lived in them.<\/p>\n<section>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Social_Classes_of_Early_China\"><\/span>The Social Classes of Early China<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>During the early days of China, there were four main social classes that existed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Shang (Royals and Nobles)<\/li>\n<li>The Gong (Skilled Workers)<\/li>\n<li>The Shi (Farmers and Peasants)<\/li>\n<li>The Shang (Slaves and Servants)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each class had its own distinct characteristics and roles within society, which were determined by birth and family status. While the classes were hierarchical, there was some mobility between them, with individuals sometimes being able to move up or down depending on their circumstances.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Shang_Class\"><\/span>The Shang Class<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Shang class was made up of the royal family and nobles who held important positions in government and military.
