With the rise of online education, it is more important than ever to ensure that our students have a safe and supportive learning environment. That&#8217;s why I am proud to be a part of the RI Parents and Educators for Safe Schools initiative.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Importance_of_Safe_Schools\"><\/span>The Importance of Safe Schools<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Research has shown that students who feel safe and supported in their learning environment are more likely to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Unfortunately, many schools across the country are still struggling to provide a safe and supportive environment for their students. This is where the RI Parents and Educators for Safe Schools initiative comes in.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Survey_Results\"><\/span>Survey Results<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A recent survey conducted by the RI Parents and Educators for Safe Schools initiative found that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>85% of parents believe that school safety is a top priority<\/li>\n<li>65% of parents are concerned about cyberbullying and online safety<\/li>\n<li>80% of educators believe that a safe and supportive learning environment is crucial for student success<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Data_Analysis\"><\/span>Data Analysis<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Analysis of school safety data from the National Center for Education Statistics shows that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>21% of public schools reported at least one incident of violence, theft, or other crimes in the 2023 school year<\/li>\n<li>14% of students reported being bullied in the 2023 school year<\/li>\n<li>23% of students reported being cyberbullied in the 2023 school year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Personal_Experience\"><\/span>Personal Experience<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As a teacher, I have seen firsthand the negative effects that an unsafe and unsupportive learning environment can have on students. I have also seen the positive impact that a safe and supportive environment can have on student success. That&#8217;s why I am committed to supporting the RI Parents and Educators for Safe Schools initiative.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Expert_Opinion\"><\/span>Expert Opinion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to Dr. John Hutton, a pediatrician and researcher at Cincinnati Children&#8217;s Hospital Medical Center, A safe and supportive learning environment is crucial for student success.
