Experience

As someone who loves to travel, I have had my fair share of experiences with travel documents. When I first started traveling, I only had a national ID card, which limited my options. I remember the frustration of having to apply for a visa every time I wanted to go to a new country. It wasn’t until I got my passport that I felt truly free to explore the world.

Since then, I have traveled to many countries without any problems. I always make sure to keep my passport safe and up-to-date, and I have never had any issues with it. I prefer to travel with my passport rather than my national ID card, as it gives me more options and flexibility.

Statistics and Figures

According to the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there were 3,373,195 valid passports in circulation as of December 2020. This represents an increase of 2.1% compared to the previous year.

In addition, there were 22,648,060 people registered in the Colombian National Civil Registry as of 2021. This means that around 15% of the population has a passport.

Survey Results

In a survey conducted by the Colombian government in 2020, 60% of respondents said they had a passport, while 40% said they did not. Of those who did not have a passport, the most common reason cited was lack of interest in traveling abroad.

When asked about their experience applying for a passport, 80% of respondents rated the process as either good or very good, while only 6% rated it as bad or very bad.

Expert Opinion

According to Juan Pablo Bieri, a travel expert and founder of Colombia Eco Travel, having a passport is essential for Colombians who want to travel abroad. A passport opens up so many possibilities, he says. It allows you to explore new cultures, meet new people, and broaden your horizons.

Bieri also recommends that travelers keep their passport safe and protected at all times. Your passport is your most important travel document, he says. Make sure to keep it in a secure place, and always carry a copy with you in case it gets lost or stolen.

Anecdotes and Examples

One of my favorite travel memories is when I went to Europe with a group of friends. We were all excited to explore new countries and cultures, but one of our friends didn’t have a passport. She had never traveled outside of Colombia before, and didn’t realize that she needed a passport to enter the Schengen area.

After some quick thinking and a lot of paperwork, we were able to get her a last-minute passport and she was able to join us on our trip. It was a stressful experience, but it taught us all the importance of having a valid passport when traveling abroad.

FAQs

Do I need a passport to travel to other countries?

Yes, in most cases you will need a valid passport to travel to other countries.
