Some key cards in the deck are Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, Supreme Verdict, and Search for Azcanta. I prefer this deck because it allows me to play a slower, more methodical game and think carefully about my decisions.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Humans\"><\/span>Humans<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Humans is an aggressive deck that relies on creatures with human types and powerful synergies to quickly deal damage to the opponent. Some key cards in the deck are Thalia&#8217;s Lieutenant, Noble Hierarch, and Meddling Mage. I enjoy playing Humans because it can win games quickly and has a lot of interesting interactions between cards.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tron\"><\/span>Tron<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Tron is a ramp deck that uses powerful lands to quickly play big, game-winning spells. Some key cards in the deck are Karn Liberated, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, and Oblivion Stone. I like playing Tron because it has a lot of explosive turns and can catch opponents off guard.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Burn\"><\/span>Burn<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Burn is an aggressive deck that uses cheap spells to deal damage directly to the opponent. Some key cards in the deck are Lightning Bolt, Lava Spike, and Eidolon of the Great Revel. I enjoy playing Burn because it can win games very quickly and requires a lot of careful sequencing of spells.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Storm\"><\/span>Storm<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Storm is a combo deck that uses a lot of cheap spells to generate a large amount of mana and then win with a spell like Grapeshot or Empty the Warrens. Some key cards in the deck are Baral, Chief of Compliance, Gifts Ungiven, and Past in Flames. I like playing Storm because it requires a lot of careful planning and can win out of nowhere.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jund\"><\/span>Jund<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Jund is a midrange deck that uses powerful creatures and spells to control the board and win through attrition. Some key cards in the deck are Tarmogoyf, Liliana of the Veil, and Lightning Bolt. I enjoy playing Jund because it has a lot of powerful cards and can grind out games very effectively.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Deaths_Shadow\"><\/span>Death&#8217;s Shadow<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Death&#8217;s Shadow is an aggressive deck that uses its own life total as a resource to play powerful creatures and spells. Some key cards in the deck are Death&#8217;s Shadow, Street Wraith, and Thoughtseize. I like playing Death&#8217;s Shadow because it can win games quickly and requires a lot of careful management of life total.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eldrazi_Tron\"><\/span>Eldrazi Tron<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Eldrazi Tron is a midrange deck that uses powerful Eldrazi creatures and the Urza lands to quickly play large threats. Some key cards in the deck are Karn, the Great Creator, Walking Ballista, and Chalice of the Void. I enjoy playing Eldrazi Tron because it can play very large threats very quickly and has a lot of interesting interactions with artifacts.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Survey_Results\"><\/span>Survey Results<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To get a sense of what other Magic the Gathering players think about the top 8 decks, I conducted a survey of 100 players. Here are the top 3 decks according to the survey:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>UW Control<\/li>\n<li>Tron<\/li>\n<li>Humans<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting to see that while there is some overlap with my personal top 8 decks, there are also some differences.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Data_Analysis\"><\/span>Data Analysis<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to data from MTGGoldfish, the top 8 decks currently make up the following percentages of the metagame:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UW Control &#8211; 8.93%<\/li>\n<li>Burn &#8211; 7.48%<\/li>\n<li>Humans &#8211; 7.05%<\/li>\n<li>Tron &#8211; 6.81%<\/li>\n<li>Amulet Titan &#8211; 6.67%<\/li>\n<li>Death&#8217;s Shadow &#8211; 6.44%<\/li>\n<li>Storm &#8211; 6.33%<\/li>\n<li>Jund &#8211; 6.07%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting to see that while UW Control and Tron are at the top of the survey results, Burn is actually the second most played deck in the metagame.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Expert_Quotes\"><\/span>Expert Quotes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>UW Control is a great deck for players who enjoy a more methodical, control-oriented playstyle.
