These strengths will not only help you become a better nurse, but also help you advance your career in the nursing field. <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Curiosities_Statistics_and_Facts\"><\/span>Curiosities, Statistics and Facts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Nursing is considered one of the most in-demand professions in the United States, with a projected growth rate of 12% from 2018 to 2028.<\/li>\n<li>There are more than 3.8 million registered nurses in the United States, making it the largest healthcare profession in the country.<\/li>\n<li>According to a survey conducted by the American Nurses Association, 95% of nurses believe that nursing is a rewarding profession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Strength_1_Critical_Thinking\"><\/span>Strength #1: Critical Thinking<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Critical thinking is one of the most important skills that a nurse must possess. As a nurse, you will be required to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations. Critical thinking involves analyzing data, identifying problems and making quick decisions based on the available information.<\/p>\n<p>One of the ways I developed my critical thinking skills was by participating in mock emergency situations during my nursing school program. I was required to assess the situation, identify the problem and make quick decisions based on the available information. This helped me develop my critical thinking skills and prepared me for real-life emergency situations.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Strength_2_Communication\"><\/span>Strength #2: Communication<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Effective communication is crucial in the nursing profession. As a nurse, you will be required to communicate with patients, their families, other healthcare professionals and your superiors. Clear and concise communication can help prevent misunderstandings, reduce errors and improve patient outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>I prefer using a patient-centered approach to communication, where I actively listen to my patients and involve them in their own care plan. This helps build trust and improves patient satisfaction.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Strength_3_Empathy\"><\/span>Strength #3: Empathy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. As a nurse, you will be required to deal with patients who are in pain, anxious or fearful. Empathy can help you provide comfort and support to your patients, and improve their overall experience.<\/p>\n<p>One of the ways I show empathy to my patients is by taking the time to listen to their concerns and addressing their needs.
