1. Visit Old Town Scottsdale
Old Town Scottsdale is the historic heart of the city. It’s a great place to wander around and take in the local culture. There are over 100 art galleries, shops, and restaurants in the area. I recommend checking out the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and grabbing a bite to eat at The Mission.
2. Explore the Sonoran Desert
The Sonoran Desert is one of the most unique and beautiful ecosystems in North America. There are many ways to explore the desert, including hiking, biking, and horseback riding. I personally went on a guided Jeep tour with Desert Wolf Tours and it was an unforgettable experience.
3. Golfing
As I mentioned earlier, Scottsdale has over 200 golf courses. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, there’s a course for you. I played a round at the TPC Scottsdale and it was a great course with beautiful views.
4. Visit Taliesin West
Taliesin West is the winter home and school of architecture for Frank Lloyd Wright. The property is now a National Historic Landmark and a great place to learn about Wright’s life and work. I highly recommend taking a guided tour.
5. Shop at Scottsdale Fashion Square
Scottsdale Fashion Square is the largest shopping mall in Arizona and a must-visit for any shopaholic. The mall has over 200 stores, including high-end brands like Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
6. Visit the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is a great place to take the kids. There are train rides, a carousel, and a museum dedicated to the history of railroads in Arizona.
7. Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride
Hot air balloon rides are a popular activity in Scottsdale. It’s a great way to see the city from a different perspective and take in the beautiful scenery. I went on a ride with Hot Air Expeditions and it was an amazing experience.
8. Visit the Musical Instrument Museum
The Musical Instrument Museum is a unique museum that showcases over 6,000 instruments from around the world. It’s a great place to learn about different cultures and their music.
9. Relax at a Spa
Scottsdale is known for its luxurious spas. There are many to choose from, but I recommend the Well & Being Spa at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. I had a massage and it was the most relaxing experience.
10. Eat at a Local Restaurant
Scottsdale has a thriving culinary scene. There are many great restaurants to choose from, but I recommend trying a local spot like Cafe Monarch or FnB Restaurant.
