San Diego has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Whether you’re looking for a place to surf, swim, or just relax in the sun, there’s a beach for you. My personal favorite was La Jolla Cove, which has crystal-clear water and tons of adorable sea lions.
Tip: Bring a picnic and watch the sunset at Coronado Beach.
Explore Old Town
Old Town is the birthplace of San Diego and is a must-visit for history buffs. The area is full of preserved buildings and museums that showcase what life was like in the early days of San Diego. I loved walking around and imagining what it would have been like to live back then.
Tip: Eat at Casa Guadalajara for some delicious Mexican food.
Visit the USS Midway Museum
The USS Midway is a retired aircraft carrier that has been turned into a museum. It’s a fascinating look into the life of sailors and pilots who served on the ship, and there are tons of interactive exhibits and displays. I even got to sit in the cockpit of a fighter jet!

Take a Brewery Tour
As I mentioned earlier, San Diego is known for its craft beer. There are tons of breweries in the city, and many of them offer tours and tastings. I went on a tour of Stone Brewing and learned all about the brewing process. Plus, the beer was delicious!

Go to the San Diego Zoo
The San Diego Zoo is one of the most famous zoos in the world, and for good reason. It’s home to over 3,500 animals and has a focus on conservation and education. I loved seeing all the different animals and learning about their habitats and behaviors.
Tip: Take the Skyfari aerial tram for a bird’s-eye view of the zoo.
Visit the Cabrillo National Monument
The Cabrillo National Monument is located at the southern tip of the Point Loma Peninsula and offers stunning views of the city and the ocean. There’s also a lighthouse and a museum that tells the story of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the first European to set foot in California.
Tip: Go during whale-watching season (December-April) for a chance to see some gray whales.
Take a Sunset Cruise
San Diego is known for its beautiful sunsets, and there’s no better way to see them than on a sunset cruise. I went on a Hornblower Cruise and got to see the city from a whole new perspective. Plus, there was free champagne!
