Use a shovel to dig holes for the posts. The holes should be at least 2 feet deep. Fill the bottom of each hole with gravel for drainage. Insert the post anchors into the holes and secure them with concrete. Cut the 2&#215;6 beams to the desired length and attach them to the posts with wood screws. Make sure the beams are level.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_4_Install_the_Rafters\"><\/span>Step 4: Install the Rafters<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>With the beams in place, it&#8217;s time to install the rafters. Cut the 2&#215;4 rafters to the desired length and attach them to the beams with wood screws. Space the rafters evenly. You may need to cut notches in the rafters to fit them around the beams.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_5_Install_the_Roofing\"><\/span>Step 5: Install the Roofing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>With the frame of the patio cover complete, it&#8217;s time to install the roofing material. You can use shingles or metal panels.
