How to Draw a Taco Step by Step
Learn to create a delicious taco drawing
Introduction
Hi, I’m John Johnson and I’m excited to share with you how to draw a taco step by step. I’ve been drawing since I was a kid and tacos are one of my favorite foods. Combining the two just makes sense!
Before we get started, let’s take a look at some interesting facts about tacos:
- Tacos were first created in Mexico in the 18th century
- The word taco means light snack in Spanish
- Tacos are now one of the most popular foods in the United States
Materials
Before we start drawing, we’ll need a few materials:
- Paper
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Colored pencils or markers (optional)
Step 1: Draw the Shell
Let’s start by drawing the shell of the taco. Draw a curved line that looks like a half-circle. This will be the top of the taco.
Next, draw a straight line coming down from each end of the curved line. These will be the sides of the taco shell.
Finally, connect the two straight lines at the bottom with a curved line to complete the shell.

Step 2: Add the Filling
Now it’s time to add the filling to our taco. Draw another curved line inside the taco shell, following the shape of the top of the shell. This will be the top of the filling.
Next, draw a diagonal line from the top of the shell to the bottom of the shell on one side. Repeat on the other side. These will be the sides of the filling.
Finally, connect the two diagonal lines at the bottom with a straight line to complete the filling.

Step 3: Add the Toppings
No taco is complete without toppings! Let’s add some to our drawing.
Draw some small circles or ovals on top of the filling for tomatoes. Draw some small squares on top of the tomatoes for cheese. Draw some small triangles on top of the cheese for lettuce.
Feel free to add any other toppings you like, such as sour cream or salsa.

Step 4: Color Your Taco
Now it’s time to make your taco drawing really pop with color! Use colored pencils or markers to color in the different parts of your taco.
You can also experiment with different colors for the toppings. Maybe you want green tomatoes or purple lettuce!
