To get a more objective view of the benefits of insoles, I looked up some research papers on the topic. Here are some of the most interesting findings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A study published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Research found that custom-made orthotics improved foot comfort and function in patients with plantar fasciitis, compared to a control group who received standard insoles or no treatment. However, the study did not compare custom-made orthotics to over-the-counter insoles.<\/li>\n<li>A study published in the Journal of Sports Sciences found that arch support insoles improved running biomechanics and reduced knee loading in recreational runners, compared to flat insoles or no insoles.
