If so, you\u2019re not alone. This is a common phenomenon that many people experience in their personal relationships, whether it be with a spouse, friend, family member or coworker.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_do_we_feel_love_and_resentment_towards_someone\"><\/span>Why do we feel love and resentment towards someone?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are many reasons why we may feel both love and resentment towards someone. It could be due to unmet expectations, unresolved conflicts, or feeling like our needs aren\u2019t being met. It could also stem from feelings of jealousy, insecurity, or feeling like we\u2019re being taken advantage of.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Survey_Results\"><\/span>Survey Results<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to a recent survey conducted by Relationship Hero, a relationship coaching service, 68% of respondents reported feeling both love and resentment towards their partner at some point in their relationship. Of those respondents, 87% reported that their feelings of love outweighed their feelings of resentment.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Studies\"><\/span>Studies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A study published in the Journal of Family Psychology found that couples who reported feeling both love and resentment towards their partner had lower relationship satisfaction and were more likely to consider ending their relationship. However, the study also found that couples who were able to communicate openly about their feelings and work towards resolving their issues had higher relationship satisfaction and were more likely to stay together.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Data_Analysis\"><\/span>Data Analysis<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>An analysis of data from over 1,000 couples conducted by the Gottman Institute found that couples who had a high level of negativity in their relationship were more likely to divorce. However, the study also found that couples who had a high level of positivity in their relationship, even if they also had negative feelings, were more likely to stay together.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"My_Personal_Experience\"><\/span>My Personal Experience<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Personally, I\u2019ve experienced loving and resenting someone at the same time in my relationship with my husband. There are times when I feel incredibly grateful and in love with him, but there are also times when I feel frustrated or resentful towards him. For example, when he forgets to do something I\u2019ve asked him to do, or when he spends too much time on his phone instead of engaging with me.<\/p>\n<p>However, I\u2019ve found that when I communicate openly with him about my feelings and we work together to address the issue, it helps to alleviate some of the resentment I\u2019m feeling.
