All the inhabitants of the village are rendered unconscious for a period of several hours, and upon awakening they discover that all the women of childbearing age are pregnant.  <\/p>\n<p>The children are born nine months later and are quickly identified as being different from the other children in the village. They are all blonde-haired and possess extraordinary intelligence and powers of mind control. They soon come to be known as the Midwich Cuckoos.  <\/p>\n<p>The government takes an interest in the children and begins to study them, eventually deciding to use them as weapons of mass destruction. However, the Cuckoos soon discover their true nature and use their powers to take control of the world.
