He uses the machine to create a duplicate of himself, which he sends back to Tormance in order to help his team. He then uses the machine to create a duplicate of the Chitons, which he sends back to their home planet, thus ending the Chitons&#8217; threat to humanity.<\/p>\n<p>The novel ends with Doctor Kedrick and his team returning to Earth, triumphant. With the Chitons defeated, humanity is free to explore the stars and colonize new worlds.
