1. Visit the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre
One of my favorite spots in Denver is the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. This natural amphitheater is surrounded by stunning red rock formations and is a popular spot for concerts, yoga classes, and other events. Even if you’re not attending a show, it’s worth a visit to take in the beautiful views and hike the nearby trails. I did the Trading Post Trail and it led to some amazing vistas.
2. Explore the Denver Art Museum
The Denver Art Museum is a must-see for art lovers. The collection includes over 70,000 works from around the world, and the museum itself is a work of art with its iconic titanium-clad building. I prefer contemporary art, but there’s something for everyone here. I was particularly impressed with the Western American Art collection.
3. Take a Stroll in Washington Park
Washington Park is the perfect spot for a picnic, a game of frisbee, or a leisurely stroll. The park covers over 160 acres and features two lakes, a boathouse, and plenty of shady trees. I like to bring a book and relax by the water.
4. Discover the Denver Botanic Gardens
The Denver Botanic Gardens are a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city. The gardens cover 24 acres and feature a variety of plants from around the world, as well as art installations and events. I attended a concert in the gardens last summer and it was magical.
5. Go on a Brewery Tour
Denver is known for its craft beer scene, and there’s no shortage of breweries to explore. Some of my favorites include Great Divide Brewing Company, Denver Beer Co, and New Belgium Brewing Company. Many breweries offer tours and tastings, so you can learn about the brewing process and try some delicious beer.
6. Visit the Denver Zoo
The Denver Zoo is a fun and educational destination for all ages. The zoo is home to over 4,000 animals from 600 species, including tigers, giraffes, and elephants. I love seeing the baby animals and learning about conservation efforts.
7. Experience the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms
If you’re looking for a more rural escape, the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms are a great option. The 700-acre property features gardens, hiking trails, and a working farm. I went apple picking there in the fall and it was a blast.
8. Take a Day Trip to Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park is located just a short drive from Denver and is a must-see for nature lovers. The park covers over 400 square miles and features stunning mountain vistas, alpine lakes, and wildlife. I recommend doing the Bear Lake Loop Trail for some incredible views.
9. Learn About History at the Molly Brown House Museum
The Molly Brown House Museum is a fascinating look into the life of one of Denver’s most famous residents. Molly Brown survived the sinking of the Titanic and went on to become a philanthropist and socialite. The museum is located in her former home and features period furnishings and artifacts.
10. Shop and Eat at the Denver Union Station
The Denver Union Station is a beautifully restored train station that now serves as a hub for shopping and dining. The station features over a dozen restaurants and shops, as well as a hotel and transportation options. I like to grab a coffee from Pigtrain Coffee and sit in the Great Hall to people-watch.
